This year, we experienced an important moment in Agribusiness, involving a discussion and a fierce fight regarding meat production, animal protein, and the animal world. In the meantime, two days of the congress called “Don’t Forget the Animals” are taking place, held on November 26th and 27th of this year, in the city of São Paulo, where German and Brazilian academics, businesspersons, and technicians gathered.

The event "Don't Forget the Animals" highlights its significance. Among an array of lively discussions, we enjoyed two remarkable days discussing vital topics concerning the complex issues of Animal Health and Welfare and the responsible and informed perspectives on meat and animal protein production.

The congress was initiated by Mr. Thomas Timm, the current President of the IBA – Brazil-Germany Sociocultural Institute. He previously led the Brazil-Germany Chamber for 25 years and has unparalleled expertise in Europe-Brazil relations.

Throughout the two remarkable days of the event, Mr. Thomas Timm shared a powerful message with us:

“Thank you very much, first of all. Thank you for moderating the event, the best moderator in Brazil! You participated and managed to transform our event into something extraordinary. I leave here with a sense of duty accomplished. It is very gratifying seeing people engaged, at the highest possible level. Regarding Animal Welfare and Protection, all areas involved, whether public, private, or non-governmental organisations, sent their best representatives. The content and contribution of each person were extraordinary and, above all, it is a Brazil-Germany cooperation that is unparalleled.

Therefore I feel and can speak on behalf of all participants that Brazil and Germany have the opportunity to lead a process of contributing to the improvement of animal welfare and protection, through legal initiatives, initiatives by NGOs that rescue animals, through the work of the Federal Council of Veterinary Medicine and everyone involved. I repeat: Without exception, everyone who attended our event are, undoubtedly, kind-hearted person. Each individual dedicated their time and best efforts to our cause, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to express my appreciation to all who participated.

And I would like to remind you that next year, remember this date, we will hold  the next issue of Don’t Forget the Animals 2025, on November 26th and 27th, an event we intend to carry out at the Clube Transatlântico. Thank you very much.”

In other words, it is really interesting to observe extremely productive, consistent and fruitful discussions, and we need to make all this positive energy gain much more voice, much more dimension in the news and information involving Brazil.

We visited the Butantã Institute, founded in 1901, a very important scientific institute, the only one in the world, specialists in immunobiologicals, the largest producer of vaccines and serums in Latin America, especially antidotes for snakes and venomous animals, but few people abroad know that it exists.

During this meeting, I noticed the many positive aspects we have and the important discussions we need to engage in as we grow together. Let’s work toward that future! Mr. Thomas Timm, thank you very much for your warm farewell! “The collaboration between Brazil and Germany is much greater than many people realise. So that is our role, to communicate the best of our country to the entire world.”

Thank you very much, Mr. Thomas. Brazil is a country that changes the world for better and we aren´t communicating and showing our value to the world.
