On Monday, September 2nd, at the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo (Capital of the State of São Paulo-Brazil), at 7 pm, Dr.Roberto  Rodrigues received another significant tribute for his achievements in favor of our Agriculture.

In his official statement, Congressman Barros Munhoz (PSDB party) described, during his term as minister, a hero who promoted a revolution in our Agriculture, such as the Biotechnology Law, organic products, rural insurance, health protection, and allowed an important leap in the modernity of Brazilian Agriculture.

As a special ambassador for FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) with Cooperatives, he stated that “Cooperatives are the best allies of democratic governments to achieve peace and the largest social movement in the world”.

“His story inspires all of us”! This was the topic of the invitation letter for the memorable evening ceremony, at the aforementioned Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo, concluded Mr.Munhoz.

At the recent Rio + Agro event, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Mr. Jeff Mendes, an American Film and Transmedia Producer presented the 13 most Brazilian “Agri-Heroes”, their sagas and intrepid journeys, and among them Mr. Roberto Rodrigues. Of course.

Here is my pledge, at “Agriconsciousness”, in favor of this legitimate Hero of Brazilian Agriculture, our honoured Mr. Roberto Rodrigues, who, when referring to the superior mission of the Agribusiness System, always makes a point of mentioning the word “Peace”.

And, in the same way, he always highlights the essential importance of Cooperatives for economic, environmental prosperity, and social justice in Brazil and worldwide.

It is important to point out that the honoured was also President of the International Alliance of Cooperatives, headquartered in Brussels, Europe, given his expertise and vision on agribusiness

I´d like to take advantage of this comment, just at election time, to remind all candidates, and their plans to pay close attention and include Cooperatives when discussing their solutions to our economic, social, and environmental challenges and their possible mandates.

I bring up this issue because I have not heard any candidate for the position of Governor bring the intelligence of cooperative philosophy and management into their speeches. And São Paulo, especially, is where Brazil's largest number of cooperatives are gathered.

Ladies and gentlemen, candidates! Please bear in mind the important message from our honoured, Professor Emeritus, Doctor, Cooperative Leader, and Rural Producer, Mr. Roberto Rodrigues.

We are through an aggressive moment of global polarisation, observing radical opposites vociferating against each other and, in addition, leaders such as Donald Trump, Putin, Xijin Ping, just to mention the three great leaders with their gigantic global impacts, and all of them, boasting powerful atomic weapons, which reminds us of the magnificent scientist Marie Curie, a Polish physicist, and chemist, naturalised French who, in 1903, won the Nobel Prize in Physics and, in 1911, Chemistry Nobel Prize.
