I received an information from the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (MAPA), Mr.Cléber Soares, regarding the creation of the Plano Nacional de Mulheres do Agro, the PNMA (National Plan for Agribusiness Women). The initiative is based on the leading role women play across agribusiness through entrepreneurship, cooperatives, science, technical assistance, and management.

Nevertheless, women keep facing significant barriers regarding access to rural credit, land ownership, underrepresentation in decision-making, and a lack of data required to support effective public policies. In response, MAPA and its Thematic Chamber of Rural Women, which gathers representatives from all sectors, developed the National Plan for Agribusiness Women.

This unprecedented, participatory initiative will be officially announced during the upcoming GAFFFF (Global Agribusiness Forum, Food, Fun Festival ) to be held in São Paulo, on October 02, on the women's leadership stage at WAWL (World Agribusiness Women Leadership).

A key instrument to be created under the plan is the Observatório das Mulheres Rurais do Brasil (Brazilian Rural Women’s Observatory), designed to establish gender-disaggregated indicators that will guide the implementation and evaluation of programs and public policies.

During the WAWL session at GAFFFF, the findings of two major research studies will also be presented: an international survey on global female perceptions of Brand Brazil, conducted by OnStrategy Europe through a joint initiative of Datagro and Biomarketing Agency and a comparative study detailing the profile of Brazilian Agribusiness Women, from 2016 to 2026, conducted by the agency Fran6 Pesquisas, on behalf of ABAG (Brazilian Agribusiness Association), FAESP (Federation of Agriculture - Livestock of the State of São Paulo), and Serasa Agro (the agribusiness data technology, risk analysis, and geospatial monitoring arm of Serasa Experian).

Main Technical Pillars of the PNMA

1.Production, Credit, and Asset
2. Technology, Innovation, and Extension Services (ATER — Technical Assistance);
3. Entrepreneurship, Cooperatives, and Market Access;
4. Leadership, Representation, and Succession;
5. Knowledge, Data, and Evaluation;
6. Quality of Life and Rural Retention;
7. Recognition and Cultural Transformation;

On October 2, at GAFFFF WAWL, MAPA advisor Ms. Andrea Parrilla will deliver the official presentation of the National Plan for Agribusiness Women alongside the panel "The Voice of the Brazilian Agribusiness Woman to the World" and the UN celebration of the International Year of Rural Women.
The event will  take place at Nubank Park in São Paulo, from 10 am on.

For more than ten years, we've participated in numerous movements advocating for the rightful standing of women in the development of Brazilian and global agribusiness. Today, during our inaugural year alongside the Global Agribusiness Festival in São Paulo, we celebrate the Brazilian government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply, as it formalizes this positive reality.

WAWL (World Agribusiness Women Leadership) acclaims and congratulates MAPA on this milestone decision.
We must also recognize the return of the Principal of ESALQ (Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture - extension of the University of São Paulo), Dr. Thais Vieira, who recently spoke at the Women in Agrifood Forum in Beijing, China, presenting Brazilian data at the highest international level.

Brazil is truly "Agri-incredible."
Congratulations!
