At Plasson’s Latin American meeting in Foz do Iguaçu, the CEO, Mr Franke Hobold highlighted the company’s impressive 43% growth in 2025 and the strong performance of Brazil’s poultry and swine industries. But his key message was a warning one: “Agribusiness cycles must be carefully managed”.
The event highlighted strong outcomes in the chicken, pork, and egg markets, with some companies, including Pluma Agroavícola, reporting higher Tilapia ( or St.Peter) and other fish exports to the United States despite tariff tensions and trade disputes.
Anyway, no matter the challenges, Brazil remains a global powerhouse as we can see:
-We´re the 3rd largest producer and the world’s number one exporter of chicken meat, shipping to 140 countries.
-We´re also the 4th in pork production and 4th in global exports.
-Chicken output is expected to reach 15.6 million tons in 2025, with consumption nearing 50 kg per capita, and exports representing 30% of production.- Pork output totals 5.5 million tons, also with 30% destined for foreign markets, registering that, domestic consumption has doubled in the past 12 years, an achievement supported by strong promotional efforts from the Brazilian Association of Swine Producers (ABCS).
In other hand, a major factor likely to influence global pork flows is the detection of African Swine Fever in Spain and Taiwan. Due to it, countries such as the Philippines have already suspended imports, creating new opportunities for Brazilian pork abroad. Sanitary performance has also strengthened Brazil’s leadership.
Recent incidents, including avian influenza in southern Brazil, were contained quickly and effectively, showcasing the country’s growing expertise in animal health, especially in comparison with key competitors.
Executives meeting in Foz do Iguaçu emphasized that high cycles are inevitably followed by downturns, and strong financial management will be essential as the sector is expected to continue expanding in 2026.
The industry is also witnessing rapid technological advances, with fully digitalized production facilities soon to be launched.
Animal Welfare and Biosecurity continue to guide global market demands and Brazil has increasingly set an example in both fields.
“Keep an eye on the cycles,” warned CEO Hobold, drawing on his 45 years in the poultry and swine industries. Expectations for 2026 point to further growth, potentially 27%.
Plasson Israel’s Animal Division Director, Mr Nir Bracha, also underscored the importance of high-quality service and technical support to ensure customer success in the global protein market.
Poultry, pork, and egg production continue to drive Latin America’s Agribusiness outlook.
Thank you, Plasson Latin America!
